What EI level is required in your building?
EI30, EI60, or EI120 depends on the building height, the use of the zones, and local fire safety regulations (2012 Royal Basic Standards). Our advisors know Belgian regulations in detail.
Do you also have smoke-control or acoustic requirements?
The EI+S classification adds smoke control for higher-risk zones. In residential and professional buildings, acoustic standards are also often legally mandated — we supply doors that combine fire resistance, smoke control, and acoustic insulation up to Rw 55 dB in one product.
Do you want to be able to keep the door open?
Electric hold-open devices with fail-safe function are available. The door stays open during the day and closes automatically on fire alarm — seamless integration with your fire detection system.
Who is responsible for installation?
A fire-resistant door is only legally valid with correct installation by certified technicians. Our own installers guarantee that.

In most Belgian apartment buildings, EI30 or EI60 doors are legally required at certain locations — particularly on escape routes, technical rooms, and parking garages. The exact requirements depend on the building height and use. Our advisors analyse your specific situation free of charge.
What is the difference between EI30 and EI60?
EI30 holds back fire and smoke for 30 minutes, EI60 for 60 minutes. Both classes are certified in accordance with EN 1634. The required class depends on your building type and local regulations.
Can a fire-resistant door also provide acoustic insulation?
Yes. Manufar supplies combined fire and acoustic doors that meet both EI30/EI60/EI120 and acoustic standards up to Rw 55 dB. One investment, double protection — ideal for medical practices, recording studios, and luxury apartments.
Must the door be installed by a certified company?
For the legal validity of a fire-resistant door, correct installation by certified technicians is required. Manufar guarantees this with its own installers and provides the installation certificates.
Can I replace existing doors without replacing the door frame?
In many cases only the door leaf and lock need to be replaced, not the frame. Our technicians assess this on site and advise the most cost-effective approach.
Is an EI120 door also suitable for industrial or public buildings?
Yes. In addition to EI30 and EI60 for homes and apartments, Manufar also supplies EI120 doors for warehouses, industrial sites, and publicly accessible buildings with a higher fire load.
How important is an automatic threshold for acoustic performance?
Very important. Without an automatic threshold, 30 to 40% of the noise reduction is lost through the gap under the door. We supply it as standard with every acoustic model.
What Rw value do you need for your space?
Rw 42 dB for a meeting room or medical practice, Rw 50 dB for a music room, Rw 55 dB for a professional recording studio or hotel apartment. Our advisors determine the right level together with you — combined with the required EI level if needed.
Can an apartment door also be burglar-resistant in addition to fire- and sound-resistant?
Yes. Combined versions with RC2 burglary resistance are possible in addition to the EI and Rw classification. Ask about our triple-certified models if your situation requires it.
