Security ratings and maximum insurable amounts
S1 and S2 are entry-level safes for small amounts (max. €2,000–5,000). Grade I typically covers up to €25,000; grade II up to €50,000; grade III up to €100,000. Higher grades are intended for professional value storage and are certified on a custom basis.
How are ratings tested?
An independent laboratory tests the safe for a set period using specified tools. The test simulates an attack by an experienced burglar. Safes that pass receive a European EN 1143-1 certificate.
Combined ratings: fire and burglary protection
Most serious private safes combine a burglary rating with a fire rating. Note: a high burglary rating doesn't guarantee fire resistance, and vice versa. Always request the combined certificate.
